Dave, my awesome brother in law..... thinks my post are too long, much like our 3 hour church meeting and Carlson gatherings:)) Dave this one is for you:) luvya ☺
Thanks for the consideration-it is nice for us short bloggers to have a voice! I like many others find that long blog posts are discouraging because they take so long to read. It’s like when I click on the post and see that it is longer than any college paper I have ever written, I get discouraged and don’t want to read it-especially when I know I can get a faster updated version from my wife. But this should not be interpreted as a sign of not caring or not interested, just not a long attention span or too busy. My brain can only handle the basics in life, so when people start writing really long blog posts it just shuts off (kind of like when a speaker at church goes over time). However, I do not want to be insensitive to those who write long blog posts or long comments and there are some exceptions to this rule-there are those who truly have a lot to say or have life experiences to share such as the Sullenger’s and some family blogs. I have found the Sullenger’s blog to be truly inspiring, gut wrenching, painful, sorrowful, thankful, remarkable, amazing, interesting, and I am so appreciative of them for doing it-because I have learned so much about life from it-especially with the unexpected passing of my dad. Some family blogs are great because I can see how my family is doing in an instant. This doesn’t mean I believe that blogging should ever replace a phone call-that is wussy. I am thinking of starting a club for short bloggers so we can stand tall. I am pro blogging most of the time, but I am pro short blogging all the time. I will say I like blogging as opposed to facebook status stuff. I am sick and tired of people sending me Farmville and mafia wars junk-I don’t even know what that stuff really is other than my nephew told me when he was in Farmville he was somewhat addicted because he had to check on his watermelons every two hours to see if it was time to harvest-thankfully he was able to get out of it. And I don’t think everyone really wants or needs to know if my son is wearing Scooby doo or buzz lightyear underwear. Your blog-as of right now the jury is still out. While I am appreciative of the short post today, some have been long-I am still in the judging phase, although I should qualify and say that because I feel close enough to you guys, I sometimes don’t feel the need to read the blog because I am getting the information live in real time most of the time, so by the time I get to the blog maybe some of it is a repeat and maybe that contributes to my not wanting to read too. However, you should know I truly love you guys and am so grateful to be related, and I am grateful that our family and yours has a great relationship, and that Doug received good news recently, especially since he is one of the few that can truly understand what Carlson gatherings actually mean! (You should also know that I do love the Carlson family and I do enjoy the 1 in 3 activities that I do go to, and that I just love to tease about them, but I think you know that already). Anyway, if you haven’t figured it out by now I just couldn’t resist writing a really long post in response. Dave.
